Chinese movie poster accused of copying X-Men’s

There has been a long history of Chinese filmmakers copying ideas from the American film industry. After the Chinese animation film The Autobots was accused of copying Cars of Pixar, the Chinese production company was fined RMB1.35 million to Pixar at the end of 2016.

Barely into the year of 2017, there has been another case. The Diary of Nuwa, a movie aired online on 4 January, starring the likes of Guo Guangze, Liu Meiqi, Song Rui, Xia Tian, Cui Youbin and Liu Xiaodong was found to have an extremely similar promotional poster as X-Men: Days of Future Past that was out in 2014 in Hollywood.

The much similar placements of the characters on the posters drew much criticism online, yet there are still Chinese netizens who supported the local products as “learning from the best”.
