Late last month, Benny Tai Yiu-Ting, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Hong Kong, attended a conference in Taiwan where anti-China dissidents gathered together to contemplate how best to be free of China’s yoke. His attendance and opinions expressed during the conference became the subject of inquisition by pro-China political figures in Hong Kong as well as other pro-China organisations, despite the fact that Tai had never been known for pro-independence, nor had he ever advocated for militant action. In an interview by Singtao Daily (as cited in Ming Pao), Reverend Peter Koon of the Hong Kong Anglican Church lambasted Tai for declaring himself a Christian yet “going against the Christian teachings of peace and love” by affiliating himself with the call to Hong Kong independence. Koon condemned Tai for being part of a ploy to “split the country (China) apart”, and claimed that Tai could not be a messenger for peace, and that the move for Hong Kong independence could only be a dead end for the once city-state. I hereby challenge and condemn Reverend Koon for misleading people as to the will of the Lord, twisting the teachings of Jesus Christ, and acting for Satan in the guise of a shepherd of the Almighty!
Firstly, there is no passage in the Bible that forbids anyone to declare independence of one’s nation; in fact, the patriarch Abraham himself is a forerunner himself! Abraham, before becoming the founding patriarch of the Hebrews and ancient Israel, was a subject of Ur which was a city-state of the Sumerian civilisation. It was the Almighty who summoned him out of Ur to establish God’s nation on Earth, and it was his grandson Jacob that turned that call into reality by founding the first tribes of ancient Israel. What is this but the first occasion of a people declaring themselves independent from another political state! It doesn’t stop there, for when King Solomon and his successors strayed from the will of the Lord, He called out Jeroboam to found a new nation of Israel, which is an act of declaration of independence itself! The biggest biblical declaration of independence of course is by Moses, who demanded the Pharaoh of ancient Egypt to let the Israelites go back to their ancestral home and restore their nation!
Secondly, the Lord granted humankind the gift of free will early on during Creation, something that God had made clearly that not even Himself will take away, despite humankind’s shortcomings and betrayals. Yet, by aligning himself with China and criticising the call for democracy, Koon is denying Hong Kongers this gift that the Lord saw fit to bestow upon all humankind. So, just who is going against the Lord’s will?
Koon, during the interview, denied that the looming of the draconian Article 23 will rob Hong Kongers of their right to voice their dissent, as he claimed that “Article 23 will only affect 1% of Hong Kongers”, and that if one were not contemplating revolt “why should you be afraid of Article 23?” Again, Koon is denying Hong Kongers of their right to choose, to think for themselves, and to speak freely in condemnation against any wrongs. Moreover, Koon’s statement is unbiblical as Scripture have shown time and again that God had often called forth his prophets from within societies to condemn rulers that have strayed from the will of God, even prophesising doom and destruction for wayward governments!
Speaking of wayward governments, Scripture has made known the will of the Lord for governing powers that they are to be the bulwark for the weak and powerless, to be their benefactor and educator, and to love justice and hate evil. But has the Chinese regime abode by any of these? By no means! China has done all that is evil in the eyes of God! The Chinese regime has done everything sacrilegious according to Scripture and is nothing more than the Church of Satan on Earth!
Koon, the false shepherd of the Lord’s flock, criticised Tai for being a Christian that betrayed the Christian teachings of peace and love. I implore you, false shepherd, to read Scripture, for Christ Himself had said, “Do not suppose that I have to come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” (Matthew 10:34) He also said that “I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother.” (Matthew 10:35) The proverbial sword that the Lord proclaimed is the sword that divides truth from lies, and right from wrong. As long as there is sin there can be no peace, for prophets of the Lord will always be called to challenge and condemn false prophets such as Koon and the evil forces they follow. Moreover, by threatening that the call for independence will only result in a dead end, Koon himself is betraying the Love of God that is there for the righteous and the sinners.
“Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s, and to God that which is God’s.” (Romans 13:1) What belongs to Caesar only is wealth and mortal power, but what belongs to God is everything else and it includes loyalty and submission. In the same passage in Romans, people are urged to obey authority as it is established by God; however, the fine print has always been that the authorities in question must obey the will of the Lord and not do evil in His sight. China has done nothing that is right in His eyes, and it is the Lord’s will that people will rise up to fight against its evil, establish a righteous worldly order, and separate from an evil abomination such is China.
I, as a prophet of the Lord, and in the words of Wan Chin often quoted by Hong Kong localists: go to hell.
