Angus Ng Ka-long defeats Sameer Verma of India in three sets in the men’s singles final at the Yonex-Sunrise Hong Kong Open, winning his first Badminton World Federation Super Series.
The final match was held at the Hong Kong Coliseum on 27 November. After defeating fellow teammate Hu Yun in the semi-finals, Ng, aged 22, wins the first set with sound defensive strategy against Verma by 21:14. Verma then sped up the game in the second set, forcing Ng to make more mistakes, which ended the set in 21:10 to Verma.
In the final set, Ng took a more proactive approach, led with 11:4 at the mid-way point. He eventually took the victory with the score of 21:11, winning the finals in three sets.
