美國總統特朗普周一（5月13日）在社交網站連環出帖，再談到中美貿易戰問題，他指向中國實施的關稅稅率，無理由要由美國的消費者支付。
特朗普表示，最近有證據顯示加徵的25%關稅，只有4%由美方承擔，其餘21%都由中方支付，因為中國對產品提供大量補貼。
特朗普續指，如要避開關稅，可從無徵收關稅的國家入貨，或直接在美國境內購買，他又提到好多受關稅影響的公司將撤離中國，並轉往越南等亞洲國家，將會無人在中國做生意，對中國非常不利，反之卻對美國有利。他指中國已佔美國便宜好幾年，並警告中國不要報復，否則情況會更惡劣。
特朗普公開地向中國國家主席習近平，以及在中國的朋友表示，如不與美方達成貿易協議，中國將受到非常嚴重傷害，因為企業將會被迫離開，因為向中國採購太貴。特朗普又透露幾乎達成一份好的協議，惟中方出爾反爾。

I say openly to President Xi & all of my many friends in China that China will be hurt very badly if you don’t make a deal because companies will be forced to leave China for other countries. Too expensive to buy in China. You had a great deal, almost completed, & you backed out!
